OYC's 2020 Accomplishments - What a Year!
This year has been unlike any we have ever seen. A lot of things had to be changed this year due to the global pandemic known as Coronavirus. However, Ozark Yacht Club is strong and we have proven ourselves as adaptable and lasting. Even through all the challenges of 2020, we have made incredible updates, expanded our staff, and continued offering great services and fun events as possible. Keep reading to learn everything we've been able to do this year!
On May 29, 2020 we were proud to re-open Lakeside Café after our Phase ONE remodeling took place over the winter months. Phase ONE completed as promised and we could not be prouder of the end results! We increased our footprint in the kitchen, with highly efficient equipment to ensure that every plated meal was delivered hot and delicious.
The Beachside House was completed and opened just in time for the Summer’s Family Reunion and 50 Year Wedding Anniversary celebration on August 1st. The 4800 sq. ft. home sleeps up to 23 guests comfortably with 6 bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms, two kitchens, two laundry areas, two large living and entertaining areas that overlook our Princess Beach. The Summer’s family had a wonderful time and are already planning on coming back next year.
OYC is pleased to announce the following additions to our team:
Julie Elliott, Director of Sales, brings to OYC over 30 years of experience in foodservice, events, sales, catering. The last 25 years Julie worked for two of the largest national foodservice distributors managing teams of 7-18 sales reps. Her passion for food, her drive to grow sales for OYC will enable us to partake in many new events in the coming months. Julie moved to the lake 5 years ago, currently resides in Four Seasons with her black lab/hound dog mix Cosmo Kramer.
Dale Renneman has joined the Sales team managing our boat brokerage, dry storage, marine services. Dale brings to OYC 20 years of experience in sales, repair service and warehouse distribution. His attention to detail and customer service experience, partnered with an extensive background in service management will enable OYC to provide a great Marine Services experience. Dale recently moved to the lake and resides in Camdenton with his wife, 3 children, 4 cats and 3 dogs, all of which are named after ski resorts with the United States.
Matt Fucile joined our marine services team in September. Originally from Las Vegas, Matt moved to the lake 10 years ago and has been a marine mechanic for most of that time. He says that he has been turning a wrench since the age of 16. Matt has worked both in the auto and marine industry and brings with him an extensive background and knowledge of the service industry.
Sean Jordan joined OYC as the new executive chef. Sean brings over 25 years of culinary experience and knowledge to OYC. Sean’s culinary skills are noticed in the array of food that he offers on the Brunch Buffet in the Spinnaker Room, his award-winning omelets have gotten rave reviews on social media.
Exciting things have been happening at Princess Beach. Late this season we created a large convenient venue space to host special events for our members and guests. The slopes were cut back creating a larger gathering area, built-in stage and food court with golf cart path. Large boulders were placed to elegantly outline these areas and match the hardscape throughout the club. Lights were added for those late evening events. This venue is perfect for outdoor weddings, reunions and parties as well as social events for our members.
2020 has proved to be a challenging year with the Coronavirus coming into our world. We took all precautions to ensure that our members and guests are safe. Due to the virus our beloved Lake of the Ozark Jazz Society took a hiatus as well as our Lake of the Ozarks Swing Dance Club. The Swing Dance club resumed their dances on October 17th in the Anchor Room. In the meantime, we held our “A Mid Summers Night Dream Beach Party” September 4th at Princess Beach. John from Elite Sound got everyone in the dancing mood, Merry Mary was sharing her amazing face painting with kids and adults, our Volleyball tournament was fun and the winning team was awarded with a $500 OYC gift card. Chef Sean served up delicious hamburgers, hot dogs and bratwurst.
September 16th thru 20th we welcomed over 50K motorcycles and over 100K people to Bike-fest at Lake of the Ozarks. OYC was a passport stop where the bikers had the opportunity to get their passport stamped in order to win a new Harley Davidson. OYC welcomed many new guests to enjoy our lodging and cuisine at Lakeside Café and our Brunch Buffet. On Friday night we held our Bike-fest Party for our members and guests – Southern Edge Band from West Plains Missouri entertained the crowd inside and outside at the Anchor Room.

Our New Lakeside Café and Clubhouse
On May 29, 2020 we were proud to re-open Lakeside Café after our Phase ONE remodeling took place over the winter months. Phase ONE completed as promised and we could not be prouder of the end results! We increased our footprint in the kitchen, with highly efficient equipment to ensure that every plated meal was delivered hot and delicious.
The inside dining room with our new booth’s and invigorating color palate is perfect for a cozy breakfast or lunch. We installed a service elevator which enabled our staff to serve guests in the new upper dining room, balcony, and pool area.
At the ground level, we updated our menu with new items, however we did keep a lot of our members and guest favorites. Members and guests at the upper level Spinnaker room enjoyed our lavishly stocked breakfast, lunch buffet. We were awarded the 2020 Silver Spoon “Best Brunch Buffet”.
We expanded our operating hours this summer in order to accommodate our guest and members coming in off the water with our “After Hours Menu”.
We expanded the capacity and improve the serviceability of events in the Anchor Room, which is home to the Lake Ozark Jazz Society and the Lake Ozark Swing Dance Club. Our focus is to diversify our entertainment to bring in different interest to our members.
Finally, our guest bathrooms were completely gutted and brand-new fixtures, stalls were added to accommodate our guest growth.
On track to commence this fall is Phase TWO, the clubhouse will be expanded to the north by an elegant two-story lobby, added member dressing rooms, and a dining deck at the upper level, projecting over the water’s edge for a panoramic view of the lake.
